Julie Wheeler, Dharma Yoga teacher introduces the benefits of introducing yoga into your life:
I found yoga about 5 years ago and immediately connected with the graceful practice of Dharma Yoga, which is based on Sri Dharma Mittra’s fifty years’ experience of classical yoga. The practice is suitable for people of all abilities, from complete beginner through to lifelong practitioner. It allows students to move forwards in their yoga practice as it adapts and changes to everyone’s physical and emotional states. As you move through the poses, you are encouraged to go deeper and experience yoga in not just a physical way, but also as a way of connecting the mind and body on a meditative and spiritual level.
Each class lasts consists of physical practice, deep relaxation, breathing exercises and a short guided meditation allowing you to leave the session feeling relaxed. It offers you the time and space to connect with yourself, be yourself and appreciate yourself.
Classes for carers are available on Tuesdays at 11:00am and 8:00pm and Thursdays at 1:00pm. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 6 people at a purpose-built studio in West Wickham. Each session costs £10, payable at the studio (with an option of a discounted rate of £8 per session when 6 or more classes are booked) and the duration of each session is approximately 70 minutes.
