Please see below a list of our current services. We are in a process of transition and are developing more services to enable carers to build resilience and be better equipped to undertake their caring role:
We email a regular e-newsletter to our carers and supporters to inform them about courses, events, workshops and developments that they may be interested in. Our Facebook and Twitter accounts together with our website are also updated regularly.
We have an informal drop-in café to enable carers (and their friends) to meet others in a friendly atmosphere. The café is held on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 10am - 12 noon at Carers Bromley, 1 Kent Road, St Mary Cray, Orpington, BR5 4AD. All welcome – turn up if you can. Donations appreciated.
There will be a new drop-in café in Beckenham on Friday afternoons from January 2018. Please call us for further details.
Forms Completion Service
Our trained advisers can help you with paperwork and filling in forms. Please call us for more information or to book a session.
Complementary therapies for carers
Carers Bromley’s complementary and beauty therapies are undertaken in Beckenham and at our own therapy room in Orpington. We have a range of therapies delivered by qualified and insured professional therapists which are open for booking to all.
Our prices are competitive, starting from £10 and funds raised help our charity to continue to support carers.
Courses and Workshops
Please contact us for information about current events.
These workshops are facilitated by Clarkson Wright & Jakes and cover subjects such as Wills and Powers of Attorney. If you require details about future events, please contact us.
Carers Bromley carers choir, Carers in Harmony, can be a great way to relax, relieve stress, make new friends, but above all, to just have fun. It is not about experience or ability; so please come along, you may surprise yourself. You don’t have to commit to attend every week and are welcome to drop by when you can.
The choir meets every Monday morning (term time only) from 10 – 12 noon in Bromley.
Dharma Yoga – Each class consists of physical practice, deep relaxation, breathing exercises and a short, guided meditation allowing you to leave the session feeling relaxed and with a different approach and with techniques for dealing with the stresses faced in your everyday life. It offers you the time and space to connect with yourself, be yourself and appreciate yourself.
The class is held in West Wickham on Tuesdays at 11 am. The session lasts approximately 70 minutes.
A group where the focus is on arts and crafts as well as offering a chance to meet others in a friendly atmosphere. The group meets at Carers Bromley on the 1st Wednesday of the month from 1.30 -3.30 pm. (Please note there is no group running in December 2017).
Fancy a walk but don’t want to go alone? Join our free walking group which meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at various places across the borough. The walks are escorted and range from 2 to 5 miles. Details about our next walk can be viewed here.
We are able to signpost you to local organisations for additional help, advice and information.
Young Carers and Young Adult Carers Service
The service supports young carers from the age of 4 years old up to the age of 18 and Young Adult Carers aged 19-25 years. We provide a number of services including information and advice to help build resilience and explore future opportunities. The service is currently not accepting new referrals due to high demand.
